William D. Berry was one of North America’s outstanding wildlife artists. Living in the Fairbanks and the Denali areas of Alaska from the 1950’s till his untimely death in 1979, he did most his research and sketching in the field and worked with a naturalist’s affection and knowledge. Of his pictorial Alaska Map, he said “Most of the truly arctic mammals and birds on the map are taken from sketches made on a trip to Point Hope. We saw bowhead and right whales, seals, eiders, and many other birds and flowers. Its was a rare opportunity to see these animals and plants in their proper environments as well as to participate in some of the Inupiaq activities. The little whaling scene is from a drawing made at the time of the actual strike.” The moose, caribou, bear, and other subjects were observed and sketched in and around Denali National Park, on trips to Glacier Bay National Park, Southeastern and other areas of Alaska.

These are printed on heavy poster stock and are stored flat. We ship them rolled along with the separate Key printed on legal size paper. We recommend to lay the map flat for a period of time before matting and framing.

**SHIPPING NOTE** The cost of shipping these has increased as now the U.S. Postal Service (our only option here) has added a $15 “non-standard” fee in addition the the shipping costs. We have added this to the shipping matrix (basically saying it weighs more). However, if you are interested in more than one poster map (or another poster), please send an email or call/text our cell numbers before ordering as the shipping would not double for two or more maps mailed together. We’ll come up with a plan.

If you have lost your included Map Key please contact us and we’ll email you another to print.
